Board Update - Winter 2022 - SAFETY & SECURITY - Beach & Coastal Areas

In December, an ordinance and regulations providing at least some regulation of activities on the island's beaches and off-shore waters were passed into law. While they did not adopt the type of regulations we had proposed in our submission, the new ordinance and regulations may still provide an avenue for us to address our concerns about jet skis operating at high speeds close to shore and near paddle boarders and swimmers. We're writing the DECR in hopes that we can get some buy-in on how the new beach and coastal regulations could be implemented to help with this issue in particular.
